So, my roommates AND my boyfriend are out of town this weekend, which means I have the apartment all to myself, which means it's time for one of my bi-annual or so "Weekend of Me!"s. As much as I love my BF and my roommates (you know who you are :P), it's really fun to occasionally just spend a weekend chilling with myself.
To kick the weekend off right, I of course went and saw The Avengers again, because I am in that kind of fanish headspace right now. Conclusion: I'm just as squeeful the second time round. And I have more thoughts! Mostly about Bruce because he is my fave, but also other things.
( Avengers spoilers )
Now to watch Iron Man in the background while reading Avengers fic because that's how I roll.
ETA: On rewatching this, I am reminded again how awesome Pepper is. In my head, she's fine with Tony/Bruce because she gets it and thinks its cute. Yeah. That's totally it.

So, I saw The Avengers this weekend. And now I'm finally getting around to squeeing about it here. And squee I will, because god damn you guys, where did this movie come from and why is it so great? (Answer, I know, is fun actors + Joss Whedon = magic).
( Spoilers for Avengers. Excessive squee )
Basically awesome movie is awesome. Anyone have any fic recs?

I realized I haven't posted here in a few weeks. And I figured I should! So:
A) Part of the reason I haven't been posting is I've finally gotten the hang of Tumblr, so I'm starting to spend more time there (just like the rest of the world, except like two years late). If we aren't yet friends over there, we should be! I'm agnesbean there (~creative~, I know) -- let me know who you are!
B) In the last month or so I marathoned all of Breaking Bad. Which is generally pretty great, especially in Seasons 3 and 4. I'm not sure if I'd rank it up there with the Best Shows Ever the way a lot of people do, but it's one of the best things on right now, no question. And the ACTING is definitely some of the best I've ever seen, not just on TV, but anywhere. Now I get why Bryan Cranston has won all of the Emmys.
But as much as I like Breaking Bad in general, most of my feelings about the show are all about one Mr. Jesse Pinkman, who has taken my heart and run the fuck away with it. (I know I'll probably have someone else I'm obsessing over by next March, but right now I really want to stan him during Fandom March Madness next year if BB is an option again).
And so, while I'm not sure if anyone but nicole_anell will care, I am going to spout some feelings all over the place, because HE IS AMAZING, and the MOST FLAWED, and HEARTBREAKING, and the BEST ACTED, and just generally OMG character I have come across in a while — and I've fallen in love with a number of great characters in the last year. But Jesse is just...man. There's something really special about this character.
(FWIW I'll spoiler tag specific spoilers in case any non-initiates wants to read my ramblings.)
( Jesse Pinkman is one of the greatest characters )
And for those who don't care about my ramblings, here's a picture of his face. Because, FACE.

IT's LESLIE vs. DONNA YOU GUYS
Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts and we've already all won everything.
GREAT JOB FANDOM.
I literally do not care who wins. THIS IS SO AMAZING.

PLEASE VOTE LESLIE KNOPE AT FANDOM MARCH MADNESS.
I love Hermione too, but Leslie is the hero we need in this terrible, shitty election year. Also, her show is the most consistently funny thing on TV right now pleeeeease I love her so.

Someone please remind me that Spike is clearly and unequivocally my favorite vampire of all time, because Hal on Being Human is making it really, really hard for me to remember.

Omar did not win his FMM bracket :( I am not surprised. I had fun though, and convinced a lot of people to change their votes and check out the show! I'm pretty proud of the campaign. I'll probably round up some of my post here later to try to convince YOU you guys to watch the show.
But, for now:
VOTE KELLY BAILEY
Why? Because she's a fucking rocket scientist who beat up Hitler.

Seriously. Go Vote for Omar. Please?
I know a lot of my flist is all about the ladies this FMM and I'm for that, but I PROMISE that Omar is worth making an exception for. Kate Beckett is cool, but Omar is a freaking character out of a Greek tragedy wrapped in realism and stuck in inner city America. There is no other character like him.

Some thoughts on the starting bracket:
A) Omar is up against Kate Beckett first... I guess I'll have fun stanning him for one round.
*sighs*
YOU ALL SHOULD VOTE FOR HIM THOUGH HE IS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE GREATEST CHARACTERS IN THE HISTORY OF MEDIA.
B) Sansa vs. Buffy is going to be a motherfucking bloodbath. As will Donna vs. Tony Stark (DONNA FTW THOUGH)
C) Annie (Being Human) vs. Kelly (Misfits). WHY DO YOU CRUSH MY HEART, FMM!?

Fandom March Madness is here and The Wire is a part of it this year! That's new, right? And Breaking Bad, which I just started getting into. Also, Revenge!
And all the usual comedy and sci-fi suspects, of course. Though sadly it looks like Tyrion is not going to get my GoT nod. If it goes to Arya I'll be a little sad, because my feelings about her are way too wrapped up in the later books for me to care much about her Season 1 self... :/
I think I am going to stan Omar Little for as far as he can go. OMAR COMIN', YO.

For funzies!
1. Leave a comment to this post! 2. I will give you a letter. 3. Post the names of five fictional characters whose names begin with that letter, and your thoughts on each. The characters can be from books, movies, or TV shows
spuffy_noelle gave me "M"
( Ramblings below. Yes, Martha Fucking Jones is included )
In unrelated news, I really need someone to start shipping Hal/Tom with me, because I am having so many feelings about them this weekend.

Is anyone on my flist still watching Being Human (UK)? If so, is anyone else liking Series 4 WAY more than you expected to given the cast changes?
And finally (perhaps most importantly), is anyone else shipping the hell out of Hal/Tom?
Because I am doing all of those things. Tom is adorable (I love the Sochas! Lauren is the best part of Misfits, and Michael is stealing my heart here), I will always love Annie, and I've warmed up to Hal way more quickly than I expected to given how much I adored Mitchell. This show does vampires in a way that caters to all of the things I like about them without most of the stuff I tend to dislike. Just the right amount of self-loathing without too much self-righteousness mixed in, I guess, and yet they've also done a good job making Hal a pretty distinct character from Mitchell despite a lot of superficial similarities.
Anyone else? Please tell me I'm not alone!

I don't know if I can possibly have as much fun as last year with Troy's magical rise to the top and the amazing final two of Troy and The Doctor, but I'm still SO EXCITED.
No idea who I'm backing this time. It might depend on who the nominee in my favorite fandoms are. Assuming Game of Thrones is on there, if Tyrion or Dany gets it I'll probably go with them (Arya less so; love her, but I don't SUPER love her until like Book 4). Maybe I'll pick one person for each category? We shall see...

Title: What Loneliness More Lonely Characters/Ship: Emily/Nolan, with Tyler, Victoria and Daniel playing notable roles Rating: Hard PG-13 or soft R Word Count: 7,580 Summary: Emily Thorne trusts no one, but Nolan Ross just can't give up on her, no matter how hard he tries.. Disclaimer: I own nothing. A/N: Written for belmanoir for yuletide (originally posted here). I want to give lots of thanks to my beta, Kastaka, who was both speedy and extremely helpful. Any remaining errors are entirely my own. The title is inspired by this incredibly apt quote from George Eliot in Middlemarch: "He distrusted her affection; and what loneliness is more lonely than distrust?"
Any and all feedback is always appreciated and loved. I had a lot of fun with this fic -- this ship is absolutely fantastic and so much fun to play with.
( Emily Thorne splits the world into three groups – the guilty, the bystanders, and those she trusts. )
